Australian Small Business Save on Advertising

On a local scale, a homemade food delivery service near me spends all of its $40,000 marketing budget online as the return on investment is better than advertising in the local paper.
On a global scale, newspaper classified ad revenue in the US has plummeted from almost $20billion in 2000 to just under $10billion in 2008.
In the UK, revenue from online advertising surpassed TV revenue last year (it had surpassed radio and print a few years previously).
The bulk of this revenue is generated by Google through businesses using it as a marketing platform. It is not difficult to step in at the shallow end of online marketing.
Are social media networks the answer to growing your SME?
We have witnessed the exponential growth of social media networks in the last 12 months.
Facebook has grown 93.4 percent, and now has over 5.6m registered users in Australia (26 percent of the population), and Twitter has increased its unique audience by almost 700,000 users over the same period. LinkedIn, a professional social network, has more than 40million members worldwide.
There is an incredible, low-cost opportunity for SMEs to leverage this phenomenon to increase their sales and brand awareness.
Don’t know how to do it then we can help.

The customers are already there, with large networks of friends and colleagues to tap into. These sites offer small businesses the chance to interact with potential clients without the constraints of location or exorbitant costs.
The entry cost is low, there is no need to create complicated websites and their own online community can be up and running in minutes. SMEs can utilise this avenue to issue announcements and updates to clients, offering discounts and introducing new products.
There is also greater customer engagement, as it facilitates an open dialogue with consumers, which allows SMEs to better service their needs and to gauge client sentiment through voting polls. SMEs can build their businesses through LinkedIn, which facilitates connections to an extended network of people, helping them to stay informed about industry developments and to exchange information.
To avoid being swept up in the hype surrounding social media networks, it is important to remain focussed on strategy and desired outcomes. Online seminars are available to help SMEs harness the power of Web 2.0 marketing, and there is an abundance of resources focussing on how to best make this media work for your business.

All three of his books (The Tipping Point, Blink, Outliers) are among my absolute favorites, though I don’t always agree on his conclusions, he is entertaining as well at informative and he inspires people to think outside the box.
The concept of the Identity Matrix was worth at least $600,000,000 for one spaghetti sauce company…I want you to pay very close attention to the details of how this all works…starting at 6:20 in this video. Hit the full screen icon in the top right hand corner for a better experience
It’ll change the way your business runs & profits…may make you a millionaire this year…
and certainly will change the way you think about spaghetti sauce for the rest of your life.
Online Marketing for small businesses!
Having a website for your business is great however that is not where it should end. It is now time to target your vsitors and engaging them with targeted content.
It would be like hiring a sales people and never letting them out of the office to get you sales.
The Internet is a tool which can gather and supply all sorts of information for your business. Unlike traditional forms of marketing you can track various aspects, you can engage your prospects and you can provide ongoing information. This is a very imoportant aspect because they may not be ready to buy your product or service when they reach your website so you need a system to keep in contact with them.
Three Main Areas of Contact.
There are three main areas you can retain your visitor long after they leave your website but unfortunatley very few businesses use any on their website.
1. Follow up Emails
As a busy business person you do not have time to keep up with all your contacts and prospects so the Intenet allows you to set this all up on auto pilot. They are called Autoresponders.
Autoresponders are used as e-mail marketing tools, to immediately provide information to your prospective or current customers and then follow-up with them at preset time intervals. They can go for years and make sure your message is there long after they have visited your site.
If you want to see how one works then sign up for our tips and tricks email series on the right >>>>>>>
We will not spam you and will send you an email full of free information every 4 or 5 days.
Email Marketing has many attractions for businesses, especially small businesses they are:
- Cost- Much less expensive that printed media
- Can be automated .
- Can lead to direct sales
- Easy Tracked – No other form of promotion can be so easily tracked
- Can be used to open two way dialogue
- Instantaneous
- No geographic constraints/costs- i.e. It doesn’t matter if the recipient is in China or England or America.
Don’t have an autoresponder and would like more information then send us an email.
Blogging for Business
One of the best ways to keep the interest of your customers and prospects is to add a consistent stream of content on your site. Remember Content is King.
This does not have to be to technical and should be in a conversational style. It could be a special you have going, a tip on how to use your products, things you did on your holiday. What you are reading no is a post.
If you click on the heading above you will see it creates its own page.

Our sites all have a blogging component so if you do not have one get in touch with us to start developing your online real estate.
RSS Feeds
Now you probably may not know what a RSS feed is but simply put it is a system which processes your posts into a format that people can then enter into a RSS reader and so many people may read your posts through a reader but not actually visit your site.
So this is the feed that your site produces http://webmarketingforprofit.com.au/feed/ which just looks like a bunch of code however buy using one of googles services you can change you feed to look like this. http://feeds2.feedburner.com/WebMarketingForProfit
It looks a lot nicer and now you can submit this feed to all sorts of deirectories to bring even more traffic.
So these are just a few tactics we use to drive lots of traffic to your site and engage your prospects and customers. Fot more info on how to make your site more productive be sure to contact us.
Online Marketing should be creative
Most people when they get a website designed tend to just think about the presentation however it is more about creating an environment where you can engage your prospects and customers.
If your website is simply some nice photos and a little bit of text then you are just like so many other websites and there is no point of difference.
Your website can help your customers and prospects by adding some creative content. This does not have to be some thesis or disitation on your business but simple insightful content thats adds value to what you are trying to achieve.
For example if you are an electrician you could add 10 different posts on things to check in your house to make it safer. Obviously if they find something that is not working correctly then you can offer your services to fix it for them.
You maybe an accountant and you could write 7 posts on the different ways you can prepare your figures for tax time that will save them some money.
Being creative and making a difference with simple posts on your site will not only bring in traffic and enquiries but also empower your visitors.
I was researching this topic today and found this great opresentation to help you become more creative.
